Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison may have been playing through injury for the entirety of the season under Ange Postecoglou thus far.
That’s according to journalist Charles Eccleshare who was discussing Maddison’s condition on ‘The View from The Lane’ podcast.

Eccleshare thought Maddison’s latest ankle issue might actually lead to a well needed rest over the next few weeks.
And the journalist did also reveal that he expects that Maddison has been playing through the pain-barrier all season long.
Eccleshare said: “I was thinking of James Maddison and as desperate as Spurs will be to have him back for the Wolves game, at least if he doesn’t play he might then get two weeks off from the internationals.
“And the sense I get on Maddison is that he’s been carrying things basically all season as well and has been making himself available for the games and getting through them but not a lot more.”
Of course, many Tottenham fans may now reluctantly agree with Eccleshare’s view that Maddison could now do with a rest.
Although Spurs will be missing so many on Saturday, it may be better to think more long-term.
Maddison has been dealing with injuries all season for Tottenham
The trouble for Ange Postecoglou will then be his lack of alternatives in attacking areas.
Both Richarlison and Manor Solomon are out, and Giovani Lo Celso has played very little football so far this season.

Brennan Johnson is likely to be a consistent starter in the front three alongside Son Heung-Min and Dejan Kulusevski for the foreseeable, but that doesn’t leave an awful lot else.
Bryan Gil is available, but he seems to be right on the periphery of things alongside Lo Celso.
Therefore, Eccleshare does seem unlikely to get his wish, and Maddison may continue to make himself available for Tottenham.
Perhaps Rodrigo Bentancur could be used in a more advanced role now he’s back available.
But he certainly wouldn’t carry the same goal threat of Tottenham’s £40m maverick.
One player who certainly will be out for the foreseeable is Micky van de Ven.
And Tottenham staff are now worried that he may need surgery on a hamstring issue.
