Over the summer, Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp decided to offload Xherdan Shaqiri, putting an end to his three-year stay at Anfield.
There’s simply no question about the 29-year-old’s quality, although he struggled to gain regular starts under Klopp.
Now, the 96-cap Switzerland international appears to be thriving at Lyon, where he is adored by his new supporters.
How is Xherdan Shaqiri doing after leaving Liverpool?
Well, Shaqiri became an instant hit on his debut, shining in a 3-1 win over Strasbourg.
With the fans chanting his name, the £9.5m man delivered a delightful cross for Jason Denayer to head in.
According to Tagblatt, it caused ‘ecstasy’ in the stands.

The Swiss news outlet add that Shaqiri has already captured the hearts of Lyon supporters, despite making just two appearances so far.
Were Liverpool wrong to sell Xherdan Shaqiri?
In our view, no. Just because Shaqiri is shining at Lyon doesn’t mean Klopp was wrong to offload him.
Also – as aforesaid – he’s only made two appearances, so Lyon fans could be accused of being too hasty in their adoration of the attacker.
The former Bayern Munich maestro obviously has bundles of quality, although he wasn’t offering enough to the Reds on a regular basis.

Shaqiri was also earning £80,000-a-week, which is quite a lot to pay someone who isn’t regularly providing the goods.
To recoup £9.5m of the £13m spent on the Swiss playmaker is good business, and the deal seems to have worked out for both parties.
Hopefully, Shaqiri can continue to enjoy himself over in France.
