According to TEAMtalk, Newcastle United are among a number of Premier League sides interested in Marcus Thuram.

Arsenal and Newcastle are the two front runners in pursuit of Guingamp star Thuram, who is also wanted by six other Premier League sides.

Thuram, who is the son of former France star Lilian Thuram, has been in impressive form in Ligue 1 this season.

Unsurprisingly, then, he has caught the attention of a number of Premier League teams, including Newcastle.

Rafa Benitez wants Thuram to add goals to his squad in their battle against relegation and he could just be the perfect signing.

The 21-year-old is young and also versatile as he operates on either wing or as a central striker.

Benitez is looking for wingers and creative midfielders as we enter the final few days of the transfer window and Thuram fits the bill.

But the France under-20 international also solves another problem: he is a natural goal scorer.

With nine goals to his name in 21 games this season, Thuram knows exactly where the net is. And this tally includes seven Ligue 1 goals.

Newcastle have only scored 19 goals in 23 Premier League matches this season and that includes three in their last fixture.

Thuram would add a goal threat from the wing or if he plays up front and this could possibly lead Newcastle up the league table.
