'9/10', 'super': Media gushes over £90k-a-week Arsenal ace's 'brutally direct' display today

Arsenal made it two wins out of two in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners followed up their 2-0 victory at Crystal Palace with a 4-2 beating of Leicester City at the Emirates.

Gabriel Jesus broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute with a lofted finish over Danny Ward.

The £45million man then doubled Arsenal’s lead 12 minutes later, nodding in at the back post from a corner.

Leicester halved the deficit early in the second half through a William Saliba own goal.

However, the Gunners restored their two-goal lead two minutes later, Ward gifting them a goal on a silver platter.

The Leicester goalkeeper parried a cross into the path of Jesus, who set up Granit Xhaka for Arsenal’s third.

Midway through the second half, the Foxes once again got on the scoresheet, only for the Gunners to strike immediately after.

James Maddison rifled in an effort which went under Aaron Ramsdale from a tight angle in the 74th minute.

And moments later, Gabriel Martinelli drilled in a fourth for the Gunners from the edge of the box.

“Showed off his robustness and rapidity”

Though Jesus stood out for Arsenal, Martinelli also put in a display which media outlets raved about.

Football.london gave the £90,000-a-week forward 8/10 for his efforts.

“The Brazilian is on a run of form at the minute that has really nailed him that left-wing spot down,” they wrote.

“He combined so well with Jesus and has an end product this season to boot.”

90Min also went with 8/10 for Martinelli.

“Brutally direct, Martinelli showed off his robustness and rapidity,” they wrote.

The Evening Standard, meanwhile, opted to give the 21-year old a 9/10 rating.

“Looked super bright and lively out wide, linking up well with Jesus on numerous occasions,” they wrote.

“Gave Fofana a tough afternoon and got the goal his performance deserved.”
