£85m Arsenal target left 'shocked' and 'surprised' after comments he's heard this week
Speaking to The Athletic, Shakhar Donetsk director Dario Srna has said that it would take a fee of £85 million to lure the winger away.
He said: “If somebody wants to buy Mudryk, they must pay huge, huge, huge money. Otherwise, the president will not sell him. All the clubs must respect Mudryk, who is one of the best players I saw. The price is so big.
“The market is deciding the price — not me. Antony, Grealish, they are players of more than €100m and for me, Mudryk does not have less quality than them. We want just respect. The market is deciding the price, not me, it shows which kind of players cost this kind of money.”
Arsenal target Mudryk surprised by his asking price
The wideman has told SportArena that he is stunned by his asking price. He said: “When I found out my price, I was not only surprised – I was shocked.
“Every footballer has a dream to play in a top club and in a top league. I am no exception. But I’m 100 per cent sure that it’s unlikely a player will be bought from Ukraine for 100 million euros.
“After reading the interview with the CEO, I will not hide it; I was very upset. The 100 million euros amount puts up a barrier to my move to a top league, which I dreamed of.
“I can’t say that my dream is killed. But it is wounded, that’s for sure.
“But I’m a professional. I’m a Shakhtar player. We have a few tough league games left that we have to win, and I’ll do my best for that.”
It does seem unlikely that Arsenal would go to that level for the wideman, and it would smash their club record transfer fee, paid to sign Nicolas Pepe.
Arsenal could do with another wideman to add depth, but you don’t spend £85 million just to get cover for Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
Manchester City were able to pay £100 million for Grealish, who is not a guaranteed starter, but they are in a luxurious financial position that Arsenal are not in.
