Reported Liverpool target Samuel Chukwueze has stressed that regular first-team football is a must if he’s to move clubs, in conversation with This Day.
According to 90min, the Villarreal winger has been on the Anfield club’s radar for “more than a year”, but the Reds appear to have competition for his services.
Merseyside rivals Everton are also said to be eyeing Chukwueze, along with Manchester United, Leicester and Chelsea.

To date, the 21-year-old has made 89 competitive appearances for the Yellow Submarines, registering 13 goals and 11 assists.
When asked about the possibility of a move to England this winter, Chukwueze made it clear he needs to play at a club where he would be a guaranteed starter.
“Well, Villarreal is my home and it’s just like a family for me there,” he told the Nigerian outlet ahead of the Super Eagles’ Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone.
“It depends on the offer that comes from England or anywhere but the most important thing is where I will be able to play week-in, week-out. It’s not any offer that comes that I will just accept, you know.
“It will be like ‘Samuel, we are giving you a good offer and you’re gonna be playing every week-in, week-out except if I have injury or maybe I’m not fit’. But if I’m fit, I will have to play. That’s a condition.”
TBR View:
Chukwueze is a high-calibre attacking prodigy, a dazzling winger with an eye for goal who, very much like the legendary Arjen Robben, loves nothing more than cutting inside from the right onto his favoured left foot before lining up shots.
However, it has to be said that, if he’s after regular first-team football, then Liverpool may not be the best destination for him.
At present, the Reds have four attacking stars vying for three places, plus several other top-class forwards on the fringes staking their claims – and that’s before considering several amazing academy talents like Paul Glatzel.
And with Villarreal reportedly expecting any suitors to meet a release clause in Chukwueze’s contract that is currently in excess of £80million, it’s a lot of money for a player in a position which is anything but a priority for Jurgen Klopp.
