Darwin Nunez’s future at Liverpool has become a hot topic of conversation.

The Uruguay international has come under a lot of criticism for some of his performances since the turn of the year. He has really struggled on the pitch.

Nunez seemed to have had enough after Liverpool’s win over Tottenham and stormed down the pitch at the end of this game. He has since deleted almost every Liverpool-related picture or video on his Instagram account.

What Darwin Nunez is looking forward to doing at Liverpool

Liverpool signed Darwin Nunez in a club-record £85 million deal in the summer of 2022 (Sky Sports).

The talented striker had his struggles in his debut season in England. He scored just nine goals in the Premier League and 15 in all competitions.

Nunez’s numbers have been considerably better this season.

The Uruguayan has scored 18 goals and provided 13 assists in all competitions. 31 direct goal contributions in 33 starts is a very, very good return.

However, the reason why he gets criticised so much is because of the number of big chances he has missed this season – 27 in the league.

Since Nunez left the pitch on his own and then deleted his Liverpool-related media on Instagram on Sunday, everyone is talking about his future.

Liverpool fans are wondering whether their striker will want to leave the club. Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update on the situation.

The journalist has revealed that nothing is going on between Nunez and any other club. As things stand, his future is at Liverpool and the 24-year-old is even ‘looking forward’ to having a chat with incoming boss Arne Slot in the coming months.

Romano wrote in his Daily Briefing: “A lot of fans are asking about Darwin Nunez deleting all Liverpool-related posts from his Instagram.

“However, these are private things, so only Darwin can clarify why he did that; for sure it’s not the best moment for him, but I’d never link social media activities with transfer market movements.

“It’s all quiet so far, nothing is happening and for sure Darwin is looking forward to speaking to new coach Arne Slot.”

Three reasons why Liverpool should not sell Darwin Nunez

Darwin Nunez was on fire for Benfica before he joined Liverpool. He scored 34 goals and provided four assists in his final season in Portugal.

The Uruguayan’s numbers at Liverpool are not awful by any means. Yes, he misses chances, but he has also directly contributed to over 30 goals this season, which is a great return.

We think Liverpool shouldn’t even consider selling Nunez for three reasons…
