Scotland picked up an important win in the UEFA Nations League last night as they beat Ukraine 3-0 and the media was blown away by Aston Villa man John McGinn’s display.
It was an important win for Steve Clarke’s men which keeps their hopes alive in the competition.
McGinn opened the scoring in the 70th minute and put in a strong display from central midfield.
And the Scottish media were blown away by the 27-year-old’s performance, particularly in the second-half.

Media blown away by McGinn’s display
Scotland had failed to find a breakthrough in the game before McGinn finished excellently with 20 minutes left.
And then the floodgates opened for Clarke’s side as Lyndon Dykes bagged two goals in the last 10 minutes.
And McGinn has earned high praise from media outlets in Scotland after he ‘came to life’ in the second-half.
Glasgow Live gave the Villa captain an eight out of 10 for his display. They wrote: “McGinn was not really involved in the first half but boy did he come to life in the second, setting the wheels in motion for victory.”
The midfielder also earned praise for his playmaking ability from the Daily Record. The outlet said he produced ‘two delightful lifts’ to the back post for Southampton striker Che Adams.
The Record notes that McGinn displayed his ‘typical strength and precision’ for his opening goal.

He was also given an eight out of 10 rating by the Scotsman, who praised his determination in the game.
They wrote: “Pressed up to support Adams and glanced a first-half header wide. Two delightful lifts to the back post for the Adams headers before typical strength and precision to strike the opener.”
Scotland now sit top of their Nations League group after an important win last night.
McGinn has become a mainstay in Clarke’s side after impressing for Villa over the past few seasons.
The Scotsman was recently handed the captain’s armband at Villa and will be hoping to help Gerrard’s side pick up improved results after the international break.
