Dele Alli starred on Wednesday night as Tottenham Hotspur produced one of the Champions League’s best ever comebacks to beat Ajax on away goals, with the aggregate scoreline reading 3-3.
Spurs went into the match with just a one-goal deficit after losing at home to the Dutch wonderkids. But it was instantly worsened, as Ajax took a 2-0 lead into the half-time break – 3-0 on aggregate.
But a Lucas Moura hat-trick saw Spurs produce a marvellous second-half comeback to win on away goals, in which England playmaker Alli produced an assist for Moura’s 95th-minute winner.
Alli described the night as the best of his life on Instagram after the match, as Spurs now take on bitter Premier League rivals Liverpool in the final on June 1 at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu.
Alli has not enjoyed the best of seasons, with tiredness and a number of injuries preventing any real momentum for the ex-MK Dons star. But he could cap off a frustrating season with a Champions League winners medal.
Ben Chilwell, who the Telegraph claim is a transfer target for Tottenham – and is worth a whopping £75million by Leicester (Telegraph) – described Alli’s display as “so sick”, while Robbie Keane said Alli was “unreal”.
