7 goals, 4 assists, 9 games: Troy Parrott looks a future Tottenham Hotspur star

Tottenham Hotspur appear to have a star on their hands in the form of young Irish striker Troy Parrott. Yesterday, he highlighted that once again. He scored a hat-trick for the Republic of Ireland under-19s in a 3-0 win over the Faroe Islands. This followed his goal in the 3-1 win over Bosnia last week. It takes his record for the under-19s to four goals in just two caps.

It is not only his international form that is catching the eye. Parrot has been in great form for Tottenham’s under-18s and under-23s. In seven games he has four goals and four assists. His overall tally, for club and country this season stands at seven goals and four assists in just nine games.

The fact he is even playing for Tottenham’s under-23s is a testament to his talent in itself, as Parrott is just 16-years-old.

The youngster does not turn 17 until February and it appears Tottenham have a talent on their hands. It is no surprise he has been compared to Irish legend and former Spurs star Robbie Keane.

Parrott was one of the stars of this summer’s UEFA Under-17 European Championship, which probably thrust him into the spotlight for Tottenham fans.

Spurs beat off competition from the likes of Celtic and Everton to ensure the signing of the set-piece specialist from Belvedere in March 2017. The then 15-year-old agreed to a pre-contract arrangement with Spurs and officially became a Tottenham player when he turned 16 earlier this year.

Parrott still has a long way to go and must avoid the many pitfalls of a young footballer. But it certainly appears that Tottenham have themselves a future star.
