7 assists in 12 games: Everton right to be scouting Hannes Wolf

The Austrian has been linked with a move to Everton in the past.

Reports this week have suggested Everton been scouting Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Hannes Wolf on international duty with Austria’s under-21s. Club Call reported this week that Everton scout Carlo Jacomuzzi was watching as Wolf and Austria took on Serbia in a 0-0 draw.

The 19-year-old was linked with Everton in the summer. As reported by The Mirror, Everton were said to be keeping tabs on his progress ahead of a potential swoop in the near future.

That interest is certainly looking justified this season.

Wolf has remained a regular feature in the Austrian giant’s first-team picture. He has featured 12 times for the club in the Austrian Bundesliga and in Europe. In those 12 games, he has managed just one goal. However, he has also set up seven, an incredible tally for a player so young.

He recently left Celtic toiling in the Europa League and it appears Everton have their scouts watching a special talent.

Last night, he scored as Austria’s under-21s defeated Russia 3-2 and many are wondering why he is not already in the senior Austria national team.

Everton will hope he continues to slip under the radar, as they could be getting their hands on a gem if this deal goes eventually comes to fruition.
