Willian Jose has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur came close to signing him last year, with Jose Mourinho telling him he wanted him at Spurs.
Tottenham looked into signing the Real Sociedad striker when Harry Kane suffered an injury, but Mourinho couldn’t get the deal done.
According to Sky Sports, the La Liga club felt Tottenham’s offer fell short of their valuation and talks between the clubs broke down.

A year later and Willian is finally in the Premier League, having joined Wolves on loan last month.
The Molineux side also has an option to make the move permanent for around £20million at the end of the season, according to the Birmingham Mail.
Recalling Tottenham’s interest in him, Willian told Sky Sports: “A lot of things happened. I had an offer from them but Real Sociedad didn’t want to let me go.
“I saw the opportunity to play in the Premier League for a big team with a lot of big players. I had spoken with Mourinho and he had told me he wanted me there.
“I felt there was a possibility I was leaving so I asked Real Sociedad to be left out of a game against Espanyol. But in the end it didn’t happen and I stayed there for another year.”
TBR View:
Willian joined Real Sociedad in 2016 and registered 62 goals and 15 assists in 170 appearances, while his 20 bookings suggest he’s not afraid to get physical.
It’s a shame Spurs couldn’t get their hands on him, as he could’ve been quite an asset in a time of need, and he’s very much a Mourinho type of player.
