Everton winger Alex Iwobi delivered arguably his best performance for the Toffees on Saturday.

The 25-year-old has had a somewhat mixed time at Goodison Park since his 2019 move from Arsenal.

Iwobi had a great run under Carlo Ancelotti, but he’s struggled for consistency a lot.

This season, the Nigeria international has been in and out of the starting XI.

But now, it looks as though new Everton boss Frank Lampard has revitalised him too.

On Saturday, Everton hosted Leeds at Goodison Park and ran out convincing 3-0 winners.

Seamus Coleman opened the scoring in the 10th minute, nodding home from point-blank range.

Michael Keane doubled Everton’s lead with a thumping 23rd-minute header from Gordon’s pinpoint corner.

And 12 minutes from time, Anthony Gordon got the final touch on a Richarlison effort for the Toffees’ third.

Every Everton played did well, and Iwobi – a player who has previously come under fan criticism – shone brightly.

The Nigeria international caused Leeds plenty of problems from the off, and was great on and off the ball.

As per Whoscored, Iwobi took 61 touches of the ball and made 34 passes with an 85.3 percent accuracy.

He also made five key passes, tried his luck with four efforts, and completed one dribble.

Iwobi also contributed defensively, making three tackles and one interception.

“He did everything”

After the game, Lampard lauded Iwobi’s efforts in training and in the game.

“One of the beauties of coming in like this is it’s a restart for everybody.

“What Alex has done is trained at a great level,” journalist Richard Buxton quotes him as saying.

“He demanded a place in the team with his performance.

“He had to do a lot of work off the ball and he did everything.”

Iwobi already looks galvanised under Lampard and hopefully this can be the start of an extended run in the XI.
