Manchester United target Donyell Malen has now publicly claimed he wants to join Arsenal.
The Red Devils are expected to strengthen their attack in the summer after struggling for goals all season. They have been linked with plenty of names in recent months, and one of them is Arsenal old-boy Malen, who plays for Borussia Dortmund.

Manchester United target Donyell Malen says he wants to join Arsenal
Donyell Malen was on Arsenal’s books for two years between 2015 and 2017, and everybody could see that he was an incredible talent.
The Dutchman was desperate for first-team football at the end of his second season with the Gunners’ academy. Arsene Wenger was not ready to give him senior opportunities, and that made him decide to move on.
Malen joined PSV Eindhoven in 2017 and has developed really well. He moved to Borussia Dortmund a couple of seasons ago, and after a difficult period, he has been performing brilliantly.
Just last month, Football Transfers revealed that Manchester United were having ‘intense’ discussions over signing Malen. The Dutchman and Erik ten Hag share the same agent, which further fueled the rumours.
Now, Malen has had his say on his future, and he revealed that if he had to pick one club to join, it would be Arsenal because they are his ‘favourite team’.
He told Voetbal Zone, as quoted by Sportwitness: “I think because I played in England as a youth and then it is a dream to play in the Premier League, then I think that is a beautiful dream.
“I went to Arsenal so yes, them. I want Arsenal, my favourite club. Yes [about returning there]. I played there in my youth, I really wanted to break through there so yes. Every now and then in a football career there are points at which you just have to make a decision.
“Yes, I was training with the first team, and I was 17, 18 at the time and I did make steps in the optics, but I thought yes, I have to just play professional football.
“I also saw my teammates playing professional football while I was still playing youth football and I just knew (leaving) was the right thing to do.”

Malen wouldn’t start at Arsenal
Donyell Malen is a fantastic talent, and he is having a very good season at Borussia Dortmund.
The Dutchman has 12 goals and four assists to his name in all competitions this season, which is a very good return for someone who has mostly played out wide.
As good as Malen is, however, we don’t think he would get into Mikel Arteta‘s starting XI. Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard and even Kai Havertz are all arguably better than him.
However, Malen, who is valued at £60 million by Dortmund (TeamTalk), would be a decent signing for Manchester United, whose forwards – apart from Rasmus Hojlund recently – aren’t having a great season.
