6 tackles, 2 clearances: £92,000-a-week West Ham star shines and offers Moyes a conundrum
Thilo Kehrer played an important role as Germany kept their World Cup hopes alive and in the process, he handed West Ham boss David Moyes some food for thought.
The defender has been utilised in a right-back role by Hansi Flick. It’s a position that he’s clearly thriving in and Moyes might be intrigued.
West Ham signed the enforcer from PSG for £10 million in the summer. He’s started 13 games for the Hammers and the last three saw him play as a right-back.
Interestingly, Moyes might now be tempted to switch the £92,000-a-week star on a permanent basis. West Ham might appreciate his versatility but he looks at home on the right.
Against Spain, he was extremely impressive and looked like a player who has been operating at right-back for many years.
Who Scored showcased that he made six tackles – the most of any German player, two interceptions and two clearances.
He was defensively sound and Moyes will have been delighted with his player’s performance during the game.
Kehrer has adapted nicely to life in the Premier League. He is looking like a very shrewd addition and is enjoying a decent World Cup.
The player is only 26-years-old and West Ham have added him to their ranks ahead of his best years.
Kehrer played important role in Germany draw
The player will have delighted Moyes with this showing and his tackling was a particular highlight against Spain.
Kehrer looks like a decent player and West Ham fans will be buzzing to see him starring at the World Cup.
The Hammers have some work to do after the World Cup. They’re languishing in 16th place and that simply won’t do.
Kehrer has the experience of playing for a big club and that should put him in good stead for the res of the season.
Moyes will want all of his players to gain some confidence at the World Cup and do well for their countries.
The German’s performances so far have been good and this one against Spain might have told the manager a lot about him.
Moyes signed Kehrer as a central defender but his form of late indicates he might become more of a permanent fixture at right-back.
