Tottenham Hotspur waved goodbye to a number of players who were surplus to requirements in the summer, and one of those players hasn’t stopped scoring since.

Ange Postecoglou made it clear that he wanted to get the deadweight off the books at Tottenham to allow him to work with players he knows want to be at the club.

The Australian has adopted an approach that turns away from what has been done previously at Spurs, with the shift to bringing in younger, more promising players who won’t necessarily inflate the wage bill.

Emerson Royal has impressed Cafu since moving to AC Milan in the summer, while Giovani Lo Celso is starting to find his feet at Real Betis, scoring a brilliant goal last time out.

However, there is one other player who has surpassed expectations since leaving North London, and continues to deliver.

Troy Parrott scores the winner for AZ Alkmaar vs Elfsborg

Spurs had high hopes for Parrott with some members of staff believing he could emulate Harry Kane.

However, things just didn’t work out for the striker and he spent most of his time out on loan or injured.

Troy Parrott left Tottenham to join AZ Alkmaar for around £6.75 million in the summer transfer window.

He’s been on absolute fire since making the move with his tally now at five goals in seven games in all competitions.

The striker’s most recent goal came on Wednesday night against Elfsborg in the Europa League, as he slotted home a penalty to win his side the game.

Troy Parrott’s time at Tottenham

Despite being at Spurs from a young age, Parrott only made four first-team appearances.

He really made a name for himself in the youth ranks but just wasn’t able to replicate his performances at a senior level.

His performances on loan at Excelsior last season was what caught the eye of AZ Alkmaar, with 17 goals a very respectable return out in Holland.

This led to him opting for a permanent move to finally enjoy regular football at a club that wants him.

Ryan Sessegnon and Robbie Keane sent messages to Parrott when he left Spurs.
