‘6-0 inbound’, ‘team talk sorted’: Some Liverpool fans love what Everton man has said

A number of Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter after Everton forward Richarlison spoke about Reds defender Virgil van Dijk ahead of Carlo Ancelotti’s Toffees facing Jurgen Klopp’s side at Goodison Park.

Richarlison, speaking to Desimpedidos, claimed that there are better defenders in world football than Van Dijk and also reminded the Dutchman that he is one of the few players to have dribbled past him.

Liverpool and Everton return to Premier League action after the three-month hiatus due to the global health crisis, and the Anfield side can take a step closer to winning their first English top-flight title in 30 years in Sunday night’s Merseyside derby.

Van Dijk has enjoyed another impressive season with Liverpool and has played a key role in the club’s push for the title, but Richarlison does not consider the Netherlands international to be the standout player in his position in world football.

When asked about Van Dijk in an interview with Desimpedidos, as quoted by The Mirror, Richarlison replied: “People talk a lot about him, yes he is a great defender but I’ve already dribbled past him.

“He was chosen as one of the top three in the world as he had an excellent season. But yes, for me there are better defenders.”

When asked to name who are better than Van Dijk, Richarlison replied: “Thiago Silva, Marquinhos and Sergio Ramos.”

Needless to say, plenty of Liverpool fans weren’t impressed with the Blues man’s comments and gave their thoughts on social media:
