Danny Murphy has told Match of the Day 2 that Rodrigo Bentancur makes the game look easy as he lauded the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder’s display in their important win over West Ham on Sunday, as well as the partnership developing with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Spurs have put themselves in a very good position in the race to finish inside the top-four in the Premier League. They are fifth and three points adrift of Arsenal. And the two sides still have to play each other.

They have also ended their wait for back-to-back wins in 2022 after beating the Hammers 3-1. Harry Kane was the star of the show, setting up all three goals. Son Heung-min meanwhile, was not far behind, scoring twice.
But there was another performance that really stood out. Bentancur continues to establish himself as a brilliant signing for Tottenham with his form following his arrival in January.

Murphy noted that his partnership with Hojbjerg is becoming vital for Spurs. And he went on to outline how impressed he has been since the Uruguayan arrived in the Premier League at the start of the year.
“This partnership in midfield that Tottenham have got now is blossoming. It’s well balanced. They seem to be raising each other’s games, Hojbjerg and Bentancur. Both playing productive, through the lines, causing West Ham a real problem,” he told Match of the Day 2.
“This guy’s elegant, he’s classy. He makes the game look easy and he plays the ball forward more often than not, and quickly. And that’s what you want. That’s really what you need.”
Bentancur and Kulusevski form changing perception of Tottenham window in January
It did appear that Tottenham’s January window did not go exactly to plan. It was expected that Antonio Conte would be able to welcome a raft of signings in his first window at the club.
However, no signings were made before deadline day. And ultimately, there seemed to be some concern when Fabio Paratici brought in two players from Juventus before the window shut.
However, all of the doubters have been made to eat their words. Two of Spurs’ best players since the end of January have been Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski. And they are now threatening to help Tottenham get themselves into that fourth spot before the campaign concludes.
