Celtic midfielder David Turnbull has been a permanent fixture in the team under Ange Postecoglou. He was once again a standout performer as the Hoops won 3-1 last night.

The victory over Hibernian came at a canter and the green and whites are starting to motor under their new manager.

Turnbull took some time to get going at Celtic. After making the move from Motherwell to Parkhead in August 2020, he was forced to wait patiently under Neil Lennon.

This season he’s had no such problems. He’s started every single clash under Postecoglou and is thriving under such faith being shown.

During the 2021/22 campaign, he has scored seven times and claimed five assists for Celtic; with two more assists coming at Easter Road during last night’s win.

The central midfielder isn’t just registering marks in the goal contributions columns. His overall play has caught the eye too and the £3.25 million paid for him is looking like a steal.

According to Who Scored, Turnbull made five key passes for Celtic last night, finishing the game with 85.2% of his 54 passes proving successful.

He also whipped over seven crosses and the creativity that he is showcasing should see Celtic continue to score plenty of goals.

Turnbull now justifying Celtic chase

At just 22-years-old, the central midfielder has a bright future ahead of him. On current form, the Hoops would get a substantial transfer fee for him if bigger clubs come calling in the future.

Postecoglou won’t be thinking about that though. He will view him as the man to continue unlocking defences and the player capable of helping Celtic reclaim their league title.

Turnbull’s performances this season have been fantastic. After a pretty slow start, the Hoops are roaring back into the title race alongside their fierce rivals Celtic.

With the youngster in this rich vein of form, the title race looks set to be an exciting one during 2021/22.
