Arsenal have long been linked with a move to sign Martin Zubimendi, and the Spaniard ‘knows’ that the Gunners want him.

Mikel Arteta‘s side have been excellent in the transfer windows over the last few years. Their recruitment has been outstanding, and the players they’re being linked with now are up there with the best as well. Zubimendi is one such player.

Martin Zubimendi ‘knows’ Arsenal want to sign him

Arsenal have been linked with a move to sign Martin Zubimendi for over a year now.

The Real Sociedad star is one of the best midfielders in La Liga. He has been fantastic for La Real, and several top clubs are keeping an eye on him.

Liverpool were linked with a move to sign Zubimendi earlier this month, but no club has been in the news as much as Arsenal when it comes to any updates on the Spanish midfielder.

Now, Dean Jones has claimed that Zubimendi is actually aware that Arsenal want to sign him in the upcoming summer transfer window.

He told GiveMeSport: “It would give Zubimendi a big decision to make.

“First and foremost, I think the player wants to consider his options carefully and be sure that if he is going to move to the Premier League, it’s the club that fits him. He doesn’t want to make a misstep at this stage of his career, from what I understand.

“Obviously, Mikel Arteta is a big admirer of his, and he knows that Arsenal want to sign him. Arteta has his own links to Real Sociedad and the region, so that’s good from an Arsenal perspective.”

Arsenal need a new midfielder in the summer

Arsenal have a fantastic squad of players right now, but Mikel Arteta’s midfield is a bit light.

That will be even more of a concern in the summer as the likes of Thomas Partey, Mohamed Elneny and potentially even Jorginho could leave the club.

A new midfielder will definitely be high on the agenda at the end of the season, and Martin Zubimendi has been on Arteta’s radar for well over a year now.

The Spaniard can be signed by triggering his £53 million release clause in the summer, and he could turn out to be a huge bargain for the Gunners if they can get this deal over the line.
