‘£50m + Schar’, ‘Can’t have him’ – Bristol City fans react as Newcastle target Adam Webster

Bristol City face a battle this summer as they attempt to keep Adam Webster. According to The Mirror’s Live Transfer Blog, several Premier League clubs want Webster.

Burnley, Newcastle United, Southampton and Watford all want the Bristol City star. But the Robins are desperate to hold onto their prized defender.

Webster operates as a centre-back and he is very highly-rated. The 24-year-old, formerly of Portsmouth and Ipswich Town, played 47 games for Bristol City after joining last summer.

Newcastle are one of the clubs pursuing the talented defender. But this seems to be a weird transfer plan considering their current situation at the back.

Florian Lejeune, Jamal Lascelles, Fabian Schar, Ciaran Clark and Federico Fernandez all play at centre-back, while Paul Dummett can slot in too.

This does not appear to be an area that needs immediate attention. But perhaps Benitez sees this as the perfect time to bring in a promising and relatively young Championship star.
