£50m Premier League player is now wanted by Tottenham and Arsenal
Ruben Neves is now on Tottenham’s list of transfer targets, amid interest from a host of clubs in England and abroad.
90Min report that Neves is on Tottenham’s shorlist but that Wolves are determined to keep him at the club as they battle relegation.
Newcastle and Liverpool are both keen on Neves as they look into the prospect of improving their central midfield options this month.
The report also said that Arsenal have a long-term interest in Neves, as well as Manchester United and Barcelona.
Tottenham like Neves
It seems like Declan Rice may well now be Arsenal’s top midfield target if they can win the race to land him from West Ham this summer.
Spurs seem like they also have more pressing priorities than signing a new player for their engine room this month, and of course uncertainty persists over Antonio Conte’s future.
Conte’s predecessor Nuno Espirito Santo managed Neves extensively at Wolves and has been effusive in his praise of the £50 million man.
As per the Shropshire Star, Santo said in May 2021: “What I see is a player that is very important for us. He is a fantastic player. He’s a player that is one of the captains of the team.
“A lot of (the time at Wolves) he has sustained his level of performance and become a better player than when he arrived very young.
“This is what I see in Ruben. Now he is one of the senior players in the squad who has responsibilities. The talent, determination and work-ethic is there.”
