£50m midfielder who Arsenal want to sign admits he actually wants to join Real Madrid

As things stand, both Jorginho and Thomas Partey are set to leave Arsenal in the summer upon the expiration of their contracts.

Jorginho has already found his next club, a midfielder who has been an excellent servant for Mikel Arteta at Arsenal, but also one who is not getting any younger.

Partey will also turn 32 as of June, explaining why Arsenal are interested in Martin Zubimendi along with a few other names.

Across the board it seems as if Arsenal will spend big in the summer, aiming to revamp their midfield and attack, all without a sporting director in charge, as of yet.

Arsenal need to find an Edu replacement as soon as possible so they can avoid any wasted time over the next six months or so, which will be crucial to Arteta’s aspirations.

Arsenal target Nico Paz has his heart set on Real Madrid return

That being said, TBR Football previously shared that Arsenal were interested in Nico Paz, an Argentina international who is currently playing under Cesc Fabregas at Como in Italy.

Arsenal have been watching Paz’s progress closely, a 20-year-old who actually joined Como from Real Madrid.

And judging by Paz’s recent comments, Arsenal’s scouting missions might ultimately be in vain given that the midfielder has his heart set on a return to the Spanish capital.

Speaking to Sky Italia, Paz has now revealed that he has a ‘dream’ to return to Real, who can buy the midfielder back for a relatively small sum over the next two years.

Paz said: “For now I’m not planning my future yet, I’m focused on Como. Then who knows, my dream would be to return to play for Real Madrid one day.”

Fabregas recently mentioned the Paz would cost upwards of £50m for any other club interested in his services, explaining why a move back to Real might make sense from all angles.

Arsenal should put their focus into signing Martin Zubimendi

To be brutally honest, Paz doesn’t seem like the kind of player Arsenal need in the summer regardless of his situation.

Arsenal focused too much on improving their squad depth last season, failing to strengthen their actual eleven.

And Arteta is now paying the price for failing to add star quality, as was recently seen in two legs against Newcastle.

Arsenal need to add Zubimendi in midfield and the club also need to land one of their top targets in attack.

Arsenal want Benjamin Sesko or Alexander Isak first and foremost, and that is the calibre of player they should be targeting.
