Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher in recent weeks.
Earlier this month, The Independent reported that Spurs plan to press ahead with their pursuit of the £50million-rated midfielder.
Meanwhile, Ben Jacobs told Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE a few weeks ago that the Blues will sell Gallagher if the right offer comes along.
Now, there has been an interesting development which could potentially go on to have repercussions in terms of the player’s future.
Tuesday night sees Chelsea take on Middlesbrough in their Carabao Cup semi-final second leg in an 8pm kickoff at Stamford Bridge.

With the Blues a goal down in the tie, the stakes are very high as they need to chase the game and come from behind.
And in this match, Mauricio Pochettino has opted to drop Gallagher to the bench, instead opting for Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo in midfield.
The reported Spurs target, who has regularly been captaining his side this season – including the last five in the league – won’t be involved from the off.
Tottenham target Conor Gallagher left on bench for Chelsea v Middlesbrough
Obviously this could just be a tactical decision, with Mauricio Pochettino perhaps opting not to start Gallagher as there likely won’t be much pressing needed.
However, with just over a week left in the transfer window and speculation doing the rounds about Gallagher’s future, this will only add fuel to the fire.
Gallagher would be an outstanding acquisition for Tottenham, so let’s see what happens in the coming nine days.
Could this snub from the Chelsea starting XI for the biggest game of their season so far have repercussions with regards to the Spurs target’s future?
