It’s safe to say that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side have played through some adverse conditions so far this season.

On the opening day of the campaign, Arsenal’s squad looked incredibly strong, Arteta was bearing the fruits of a productive summer.

Arsenal had Jurrien Timber at left-back, Thomas Partey on the right, and the spine of their side looked incredibly strong.

Little did Arteta know at that point, that both of the names mentioned would go on to amass five Premier League appearances between them by February of the next year.

It shouldn’t be understated what a miss both have been, two players who were intended as crucial parts of Arteta’s new tactical flexibility.

And with those two missing, Arsenal could scarcely afford anymore injuries at the back or in midfield.

That being said, there has been a huge onus on the likes of William Saliba and Declan Rice to stay fit, arguably the two most crucial players to the sides’ spine.

And whilst they have, it’s now been revealed that one of their close teammates has long been playing through injury issues.

Ben White has been playing through the pain barrier at Arsenal this season

According to a new report from The Telegraph, Ben White has been managing a knee problem since before Christmas.

And whilst White is now often considered the most underrated player on the pitch for Arsenal, perhaps his determination off of it is also being understated.

According to this information, White is also known to hide discomfort he’s been feeling from the club’s coaches, given he’s so determined to play.

Of course, given how reliable and ever-present White has been for Arsenal this season, it’s remarkable to think what he must have been through in order to stay in the side.

The report did point to the winter break as an important period for his recovery, leading to his excellent form right now.

And perhaps Arteta’s trust in White’s ability can’t be better demonstrated than the new role he asked him to play against West Ham United.

Ben White is a crucial player for Arsenal, and he deserves recognition for his attitude both on and off the pitch.
