'50:50': Injured Arsenal player may not now play against Juventus tomorrow - journalist
Journalist Charles Watts said on YouTube that the Gunners are trying to manage the Japanese defender’s fitness carefully after the World Cup.
He said that Tomiyasu was managing a hamstring injury across all four games of the tournament in Qatar and he may not be thrown straight back into action.
That may mean he misses the final public friendly before Arsenal resume their Premier League season against West Ham on Boxing Day.
Tomiyasu may miss Arsenal v Juventus
Watts said: “Tomiyasu was managing a bit of a hamstring injury all the way through the World Cup so I’m not sure he’s going to be involved tomorrow.
“Arsenal might take it a bit easier with him to make sure he’s okay before throwing him back in.
“I’d say he’s probably 50:50 to feature against Juve.”
It has recently been reported that Juventus are plotting a swoop for Tomiyasu.
CMW claim that Max Allegri wants to bolster his backline despite some recent improvements in terms of solidity and results.
They say that it would cost 30 million euros (£25.8 million) to lure the Japanese international away from the Emirates Stadium.
Juve apparently like the flexibility of the Arsenal defender, who can play in either full-back position or even at centre-half in a pinch.
They would only be able to embark on a transfer in the summer transfer window because they would need to re-jig their non-EU spots.
Tomiyasu has Serie A experience, having come to Arsenal from Bologna and Juventus are seemingly hoping that he can be lured back to Italy.
But perhaps they will not get the chance to see the defender up close tomorrow if Arsenal do not risk his injury.
