Liverpool are said to be keen on the signature of Ousmane Dembele in January. The Sun is reporting that Jurgen Klopp is keen on the Barcelona player with a £85 million bid being prepared.
It would make him the club’s record signing and many are suggesting it might be the final piece of the puzzle toward Liverpool winning silverware under the German.
Undoubtedly, Dembele is a sensational talent.
But Liverpool fans should undoubtedly be concerned about signing the player. Whilst £85 million would be a big sum of money, it would represent a significant downturn in his value over the course of 18 months.

When Barcelona signed Dembele from Borussia Dortmund last summer they agreed a massive £135.5 million deal to do so. If Liverpool were to sign the Frenchman for the £85 million, that would be a huge fall-off. The figure amounts to £50.5 million. To put that into context, it is more than the fee Liverpool received when selling Raheem Sterling to Manchester City in 2015.
There have been rumours of Dembele’s discipline problems at Barcelona and such a sale would signify that Barcelona feel he is now more trouble than he is worth.
To the point when an entire Raheem Sterling’s worth of value has dropped from the player.
Liverpool must consider whether Dembele is right for the balance of the team. He could be the title-winning difference that everyone is excited about. However, he could also be the fly in the ointment.
