Tottenham Hotspur will contest arguably one of the biggest games in their recent history on Tuesday night.

Spurs head to Marseille for their final Champions League Group D game.

Tottenham need a point from their match in France to quality for the last 16 of the competition.

Antonio Conte’s charges are one point clear on top of the group, while their opponents are bottom.

But with just two points separating Spurs and Marseille, defeat will eliminate the north Londoners from the competition.

The biggest issue for Tottenham will be the absence of Conte, who is suspended for the crunch clash.

The Italian was shown a red card in the aftermath of the VAR decision against Sporting CP last week that ruled out what would have been a late Harry Kane winner.

In addition, Spurs will again be without Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison and Cristian Romero through injury.

With this in mind, The Boot Room looks at who could make the Spurs starting XI for the big decider.

Four changes

Davinson Sanchez is likely to deputise for Romero, while Eric Dier will probably return to the middle centre-half role.

The £4million man was rested in Saturday’s 3-2 Premier League win over Bournemouth.

In addition, we feel Conte will switch his wing-backs around, with Ivan Perisic and Matt Doherty back in the XI.

Arguably the biggest decision the Spurs boss will have to make is whether to opt for a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 formation.

We feel that Conte will keep faith – initially, at least – with the 3-5-2 he started with at the Vitality Stadium.

This is due to a lack of attacking options, and also to better contain a Marseille side that needs to win from the off.

The hosts will be coming at Tottenham from the first minute, and 3-5-2 would give Spurs more steel and better ability to win the ball back.

A 3-5-2 setup would see Yves Bissouma back in the line-up alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur.

And finally, the front two would pick themselves – Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

That’s four changes, with Ben Davies, Ryan Sessegnon, Emerson Royal and Oliver Skipp making way.

Tottenham predicted line-up v Marseille (3-5-2): Lloris; Sanchez, Dier, Lenglet; Doherty, Hojbjerg, Bissouma, Bentancur, Perisic; Son, Kane.
