Newcastle United ace Callum Wilson has praised the impact of coach Graeme Jones.
What’s the Story?
It was announced on the 27th of January, the 51-year-old joined the Magpies from AFC Bournemouth.
The Geordies lost 11 Premier League games prior to the coach’s arrival at St James’ Park. However, they were defeated just seven times from the moment he arrived until the end of the season.
His impact saw him earn a spot on Gareth Southgate’s coaching staff for England at Euro 2020.
In an interview with Alan Shearer, the Englishman spoke of the assistant’s impact since his arrival in January.
Wilson claimed Jones is ‘a little bit more tactically aware’ than manager Steve Bruce.
When talking about Jones, the striker said: “I think Graeme Jones coming in as a coach (in January), definitely complemented the manager because he’s a little bit more tactically aware and up to date, whereas the manager has his different strengths and attributes.”

Wilson comments on Jones highlights Newcastle struggles under Bruce
It seems quite stunning the 29-year-old would come out and make such strong comments about his manager.
Steve Bruce’s time with the club has been embroiled in controversy since his arrival, mostly from a tactical point of view.
There are many fans who question what the side’s style of play is under the 61-year-old.
The struggles in the first half of last season really did show off the team’s failures under the ex-Hull City figure.
It was only due to the arrivals of Joe Willock and Jones (if you believe Wilson), the Geordies managed Premier League survival.
The Arsenal man scored eight times in 14 games, whilst the ex-professional player has been a tactical master.
