Report: Guendouzi set to secure Marseille move; Arsenal will make £10m
Arsenal ace Matteo Guendouzi is closing in on a move to Marseille, according to Goal’s Charles Watts.
The French fell out of favour under Mikel Arteta during the back end of the 2019/2020 season. As a result, he was sent out on loan to Hertha Berlin last campaign, helping the side avoid relegation.
Guendouzi made 82 appearances for Arsenal in a career laced with poor attitude.
His spat with Brighton’s Neal Maupay saw Mikel Arteta seek an apology for himself and the team. However, the France youth international refused and was left out by Arteta.
He’s returned to north London, however, is close to sealing what looks to be a permanent exit.
The journalist is claiming that the Ligue 1 outfit have secured a season-long loan deal with an obligation to buying Guendouzi. A move will cost the Ligue 1 giants £10m in total.
Arsenal making a mistake by letting Guendouzi complete a move?
Arsenal could be making a mistake by allowing Guendouzi to complete a move to Marseille.
Despite his ill-discipline, the midfielder is an incredibly talented player.
Meanwhile, the Gunners aren’t exactly awash with talent in the centre of the park. As a matter of fact, with Granit Xhaka close to sealing a move, Arsenal aren’t awash with anyone.
Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny are the only out-and-out central midfield options for Arteta heading into next season.
Joe Willock could be about to join Xhaka in heading out of the exit door, meanwhile, Dani Ceballos’ loan move has ended.
All of this adds up to show that Arsenal could be about to make an expensive mistake.
