'Forget the past', 'Perfect for Everton': Some Blues fans react to update on club's managerial search
Some Everton fans have been reacting to the latest reports about the potential appointment of Rafa Benitez.
According to The Athletic, the former Liverpool manager is open to holding talks over the club’s vacant manager role. However, his association with the Reds makes it difficult for some board of directors to approve the move.
Benitez took charge of Liverpool between 2004 and 2010. The Spaniard enjoyed a fairly successful time, famously winning the Champions League and FA Cup.
The manager has been known to take charge of his rival. Despite a feud with Chelsea during his time at Anfield, the 61-year-old took charge of the west Londoners during the 2012/2013 season.
TBR View: Benitez would be an astute albeit loathed appointment from Everton
The appointment of Benitez would be an astute one from Everton.
His defensive nous would help shore up the Blues’ backline. Benitez can also help bring some stability after four managers in less than two years.
However, history has taught us such decisions can be unpopular ones. The former Real Madrid man’s time at Chelsea was highly controversial with the Chelsea fans.
The Stamford Bridge faithful never really took to the Spaniard, who proved incredibly unpopular after his previous feuds with the club.
Here is how fans reacted…
That’s exactly why EFC will again appoint the wrong guy. They need to stop focusing on other clubs, the past and just move on. Benitez would be perfect for Everton.

He would be perfect but so would Potter

Time to put all that aside. If he’s the best man for the job then appoint him

He is the best option out there. Why is it other countries and managers especially in Italy are happy to take rival jobs yet we can’t put it in the past. I’d have him over potter any day of the week

If Graham Potter is a genuine candidate then this guy tops him and Nuno. Forget the Past. https://t.co/YnPTr4PQfg
