It’s no secret that Tottenham Hotspur are looking to add a midfielder to Ange Postecoglou’s promising project in the January transfer window.
Although a centre-back is said to be Tottenham’s priority signing, it’s thought the club want to do three deals, recruiting a forward as well.

And with that being said, Ange Postecoglou’s side have been linked with a host of targets.
One name that has continued from the summer transfer window is Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher.
The midfielder looks ideal for Tottenham’s new project, and Chelsea’s willingness to sell Gallagher for the right price remains baffling to a lot of fans.
And with a £45m asking price in January, many believe that the midfielder could end up at Tottenham before the month ends.
However, fresh information via The Standard could now change that thought.
According to this report, Conor Gallagher is expected to turn down any potential move away in January.
The midfielder is pleased to be stand-in captain whilst Reece James is absent, and is clearly also happy with his playing time.
And although Postecoglou is thought to be very keen on the signing, that may cause interest to turn elsewhere.
Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher likely to reject Tottenham move in January
Of course, Gallagher’s stance shouldn’t really be a surprise.
A move to Tottenham or another top club might have been appealing to the midfielder in January were he not wearing the captain’s armband for his boyhood club.

But Gallagher must be very content with how his time under Mauricio Pochettino is progressing – even if he has to put up with constant reports of his availability.
Perhaps Gallagher is hoping to ride out the noise ahead of a long-term future with Chelsea.
That being said, it would seem sensible for Spurs to look elsewhere in January with recruitment seen as a real priority.
Although Giovani Lo Celso impressed against Bournemouth, Spurs might be well advised to seek further back up for James Maddison this month.
Maddison’s injury return date has now been revealed, but it seems Tottenham do need further support for their talisman across the season.
It’s a crucial month for Spurs, and Gallagher’s stance shouldn’t come as a surprise to their hierarchy.
And it’s certainly going to be fascinating to see who the club do target in the near future.
