Some Arsenal fans bemoan reports Luiz is set to leave club this summer
Some Arsenal fans have been bemoaning the latest news over David Luiz after it emerged the defender is set to depart the club this season.
According to the Daily Mail, the Brazilian informed the Gunners of his decision during a meeting at the training ground yesterday afternoon. It has also emerged that had the club offered a new deal to the former Chelsea man, he would’ve rejected in favour for a move away.
After a poor start to his career in N5, which included giving away five penalties and amassing plenty of red cards, he put that all behind him to lead the club to FA Cup glory over his old employers.
However, this campaign has been marred by injuries with the player more recently missing out on the crucial Europa League tie versus Villarreal due to a hamstring injury.
Luiz’s departure leaves a sizable hole in the Gunners squad in terms of both playing ability and trophy-winning experience. On the field, the central defender’s passing ability is unmatched by most players, whilst his big-game experiences will be a big miss.
Here are how some fans reacted to the news…

He was our best CB this season. This leaves massive hole in our defence that needs to be plugged.

He was one of our most consistent players this season. Good look to whatever he does next.

One of the very few leaders & professional personalities in the squad. Wrong decision. He has his errors but he’s a big influence for the youngsters & the squad
