Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football presenter Dave Jones has lauded Micky van de Ven with the Tottenham Hotspur star top of the charts in the Premier League for one particular statistic after their draw with Everton on Saturday.
Saturday’s trip to Goodison Park proved to be a real disappointment for Ange Postecoglou’s side. They conceded two equalisers, including one at the very end of the game, to leave Merseyside with just one point.
However, there were some positives for Tottenham to take. And the performance of Micky van de Ven was certainly one of those.
Tottenham star Micky van de Ven the fastest player in the Premier League this season
Van de Ven’s performance was described as frightening. Meanwhile, it has been noted that van de Ven has an unbelievable ability to make recovery runs.

And it turns out that one sprint on Saturday made the 22-year-old the fastest player in the Premier League this season.
Speaking on Monday Night Football (broadcast on 5/2; 18:55), Dave Jones noted that he had taken top spot, with Sky showing a graphic that he had clocked in at a top speed of 37.38 km/h.
“Micky van de Ven just nudged above [Chiedozie Ogbene] at the weekend, chasing back against Everton, which is incredible for a centre-half,” he said.
Spurs fans will not be surprised
Tottenham fans will not be shocked to see van de Ven take top spot. He has been exceptional since his arrival for £43 million in the summer. And his pace has already got Spurs out of a number of difficult situations.
With van de Ven capable of rivalling anyone in the league for speed, and Guglielmo Vicario also always prepared to fly off his line and sweep up, Tottenham are able to suffocate teams a lot of the time.
It is certainly going to be difficult for anyone to take van de Ven’s title of being the fastest player in the Premier League right now.
