Arsenal made Premier League history on Monday night as they tore a hapless Sheffield United apart on their own patch.

The Gunners were three goals to the good by the quarter-hour mark and led 5-0 at the break, going on to add a sixth by the hour mark in South Yorkshire.

Martin Odegaard opened the scoring in the fifth minute before Jayden Bogle scored an own goal on 13 minutes and Gabriel Martinelli added a third on the quarter-hour mark.

Kai Havertz made it 4-0 in the 25th minute, Declan Rice added a fifth on 39 minutes, and Ben White wrapped up the scoring with one third of the game still to go.

While most of the Arsenal players who featured did amazingly well, a couple of players in particular deserve their flowers for how they’ve silenced their doubters this season.

Havertz is one such player. For months, he was getting criticised for his displays, and it took him a while before he even opened his account at Arsenal.

Now, very few will be disputing the 24-year-old’s importance to the Gunners team. He’s now firing on all cylinders, and then some.

Kai Havertz has found his feet at Arsenal after tricky start

Havertz provided a goal and an assist against the Blades, earning himself praise from fans and critical acclaim from the press.

For instance, Goal.com gave him a 9 out of 10 rating and wrote: “His goal was taken well and the player once devoid of confidence has now scored in three successive Premier League games. Set up White for his goal too.”

As per Sofascore, the Germany international clocked up some solid stats, including four key passes, two shots on target, 93.2 percent pass accuracy, and two ground duels won.

Once again, something Mikel Arteta has done which received criticism in the past – signing Havertz – has now been justified.

There’s a popular meme among Arsenal fans which goes “Arsene Wenger, he’s done it again.”

If Arteta keeps up the good work in proving critics wrong, it won’t be long before it becomes “Mikel Arteta, he’s done it again.”
