4 in 5 games: Leeds United will be hoping reported ‘standby’ option Rhian Brewster doesn’t punish them

The Liverpool loanee will be facing Leeds this weekend.

Leeds United take on Swansea City this weekend and potentially the club’s biggest threat at this stage of the season.

Leeds know that Brentford are barrelling toward the top two, although West Brom’s patchy form has given the Whites a chance of breathing room this weekend.

If they are to win this game, they will need to keep an apparent long-term transfer target quiet.

But it will not be easy, as Rhian Brewster is in red-hot form.

The Liverpool loanee has scored four goals in five games since the restart and will be the Welsh side’s biggest threat this weekend.

Leeds United should know plenty about him, considering he has been consistently linked with a loan move to Elland Road.

Most recently, in January, it was suggested by The Independent that Leeds were ‘on standby’ to pounce on Brewster as Swansea and Liverpool struggled to come to terms on goal bonuses. Leeds needed a new striker with Eddie Nketiah being recalled by Arsenal.

In the end, the deal was ironed out and Leeds replaced Nketiah with Jean-Kevin Augustin.

That deal failed to be a success and Leeds now find themselves going up against a player who would have clearly been a more favourable recruit.

Hopefully, he does not cause too much damage this weekend. However, if Leeds are to get promoted, there is no doubt that they should start considering another run at a loan switch from Anfield.
