Newcastle United are interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt defender Jetro Willems, according to The Daily Mail.
Willems is playing in the Bundesliga with Frankfurt but Newcastle want him to solve their left-back problems.
Rafa Benitez is lining up a bargain £4.5m move (plus add-ons) to bring Willems to St James’ Park.
The 24-year-old would provide an immediate fix in a problem position and could help lift Newcastle up the league table.
At this stage of his career, Willems has the perfect blend of youth and experience.
Aged just 24, he already has over 250 senior appearances to his name, from his time at Sparta Rotterdam, PSV and Frankfurt.

The 22-cap Netherlands international is also relatively experienced on the international stage, considering his age.
Willems is now entering the prime of his career and can kick on in the Premier League with Newcastle.
Competing with Paul Dummett, Newcastle could finally long-term competition in the left-back department.
In 17 Bundesliga and Europa League games this season, Willems has picked up one assist and has completed 224 passes – including 20 key passes, according to Who Scored.
His defensive contributions have also been impressive, with 21 tackles, 11 interceptions, 16 clearances and 19 blocks.
The Dutchman is the ideal January target for Newcastle and they must ensure they get this deal over the line.
