Fabian Schar’s stock continued to rise as he helped Newcastle United to three points in last night’s Premier League clash with Burnley.
Newcastle defender Schar bagged his third goal of the season in some style as he hit a long-range strike into the top corner.
Schar’s previous two goals had both come in the same game – a 3-0 win over Cardiff City.
But it was equally important that the Switzerland international contributed towards a clean sheet for the Magpies to see them through to the win.
Schar battled heroically in defence with two tackles, an interception, three blocks, four aerial duels won and seven clearances, as per Who Scored.
It was the latest demonstration of just how impressive the 27-year-old defender has been in recent weeks.

Schar joined Newcastle from Deportivo La Coruna last summer, penning a three-year deal after the North East club triggered his £3m release clause (Sky Sports News).
And for such a low price in today’s market, Schar is a contender for bargain of the season.
Schar took a while to get going at St James’ Park but he has now established himself as a regular in defence and he has also featured in central midfield.
It is no coincidence that Schar’s inclusion in the first-team has coincided with their rapid rise to 13th – seven points clear of the drop zone.
For just £3m, Newcastle have bagged themselves a bargain and he is getting better with each game he plays.
