A number of Glasgow Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to bemoan Joe Aribo’s continued absence after Steven Gerrard confirmed that the Ibrox midfielder will be out of action for the next four to six weeks.
The 24-year-old started Rangers’ first three matches of the Scottish Premiership season but an ankle injury ruled him out of the next three.
Now, the Gers boss has confirmed the “big blow” for his player, telling the club media team, as quoted by the Daily Record: “Joe Aribo has had a setback with an ankle strain and will be missing for four to six weeks.
“It’s a big blow with Joe. He is a player we rate rightly, it is actually good news as it was a situation that it could have required surgery and but he doesn’t and we hope he can be back in four weeks.
“It will be a blow however as he is a major talent.”
Even though Rangers have done well in Aribo’s absence, he’ll be missed as the games continue to come thick and fast.
Aribo’s absence will include big games against Motherwell and Hibs, and it could also see him miss the Glasgow derby with Celtic on October 17.
Admittedly, the news is not as bad as it could have been, given worries over the international break that Aribo would need to go under the knife.
Nevertheless, it’s still a huge blow, and Rangers fans were upset with the news, some giving their thoughts on social media:
Sore one on the aribo news but he was playing as one of our 3 behind the striker so we need a midfielder in still, his injury hasn’t rushed that but we might need to bring in another player who can play along the 3. Gutted for Aribo also, he was looking in his best form for us.

4-6 weeks and then try to get up to match speed. Not good at all. Need a decent loan pick up. Players should become available once English leagues kick off

We badly need 2 new signings for the midfield. Needed them before Aribo got injured, they are now vital.
