£35m player won’t join Tottenham if they sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace first

Tottenham have been linked with a number of exciting attacking players this summer.

Indeed, by the sounds of it, Spurs could be seriously bolstering their attacking options during this transfer window.

However, Tottenham’s budget only stretches so far, so, frustratingly, they won’t be able to sign every player who they’ve been linked with so far.

Speaking on Playback, Ben Jacobs has been discussing some of the transfer decisions Tottenham need to make this summer.

The journalist says that Spurs will only be able to sign one of Eberechi Eze and Desire Doue, claiming that Eze is the one to watch on that front.

Tottenham won’t sign Desire Doue if they get Eberechi Eze

Jacobs shared what he knows about Spurs’ transfer plans.

“Will it be one or both? I think it will be one. Tottenham and Eze is one to watch and they are working on Desire Doue as well. Part of it will depend on the fee for Desire Doue. With Eze it’s a different story, it will be £60m, so if they get Eze I don’t think they’ll get another and without Champions League football I don’t think they’ll go crazy with spending,” Jacobs said.

Tottenham don’t need both players

As exciting as it would be if Spurs signed both Eze and the £35m man in the same transfer window, it would be slightly overkill.

Indeed, while Spurs need attacking reinforcements, they don’t need that much to change.

Tottenham already have some brilliant attacking players in the shapes of Heung-Min Son, Richarlison, Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski, and the dynamics of the attack would be thrown off if they added two new players in that area.

Balance is vital in football, and Spurs would be wise to only add one new attacker this summer and then re-address the situation in January if necessary.

Eze would be a very exciting addition to this Tottenham team if Spurs can get that deal done.
