'£35m minimum', '£40m': Some Arsenal fans urge Edu to cash in on one player this summer
A number of Arsenal fans believe the Gunners hierarchy should cash in on Joe Willock this summer.
The 21-year-old has come through the ranks at Hale End but has struggled for game time in red and white this term.
Willock has made just 17 senior appearances for Arsenal in 2020-21, and in February, he sealed a loan move to Newcastle.
He’s been sensational on Tyneside and, on Wednesday night, scored in his sixth consecutive Premier League game, becoming the youngest ever player to do so.
Steve Bruce’s charges hosted relegated Sheffield United and Willock headed home Jacob Murphy’s cross deep into first-half injury time for a 1-0 win.
The Gunners ace has scored seven goals since joining Newcastle on loan in the winter transfer window, helping the Magpies steer clear of the bottom three with games to spare.
And speaking after the game, Willock left the door open on a permanent move away from Arsenal.
When asked by BBC Sport – via Chronicle Live – about his future, he replied: “I’m not sure. I need to have a conversation and see what the best move for me is.
“I have made friends for life and made a really big connection with the fans. It is one of my options and I am going to consider it.”
Given Willock has struggled for game time at Arsenal and is now loving life at Newcastle, some Gunners fans think it would be a good opportunity to raise funds by selling him.
Here’s some of the social media reaction:
Hmmm. If he leaves, £35M minimum 👍

If he’s genuinely feeling this way I can’t blame him. It’s nice to see how much he’s appreciated. I’d like to see him come back & play for us. Money talks though.

Give us 40 million and he’s all yours. If you can’t, then we’ll be glad to have him back.

if we can get £40m then sell, with that amount of money we can have lots of quality option of players to buy like Aouar or Buendia.
