Fabian Delph has completed a move from Premier League champions Manchester City to Everton this summer for a fee reportedly in the region of £8million, and plenty of players and ex-teammates have reacted to the move.
Delph, 29, managed just 11 Premier League outings for City last season. He had entered the final 12 months of his contract by the end of the campaign, and has decided to leave to get more regular football.
The former Leeds United and Aston Villa midfielder posted on Instagram after signing a three-year deal, thanking Manchester City fans for their support and underlining his excitement at playing for the Toffees.
Everton icon Tim Cahill, West Ham United star Declan Rice, ex-Aston Villa teammate Alan Hutton and plenty more reacted on Instagram. Even Callum Wilson, a £35million target for Everton as per The Sun, commented.
TBR’s view – Delph is an excellent signing for Everton
Everton needed Delph. Idrissa Gueye looks as though he could leave Goodison Park this summer, while the signing of Andre Gomes adds class and flair – but not the bite and experience that Delph does.
Everton are also looking to offload James McCarthy and Mo Besic, so the signing of Delph for a bargain £8million is a no brainer for the Toffees this summer. He certainly can take Everton to the next level.
Offering versatility in being able to play in central midfield, defensive midfield or at left-back, Everton have pulled off a real coup for the signing of Delph.
