Edu Gaspar – Director of Football at Arsenal – should now be crossing one name off the transfer shortlist.
When Mikel Arteta has come knocking in recent years, movement tends to happen – statement signings such as Declan Rice have been made, for example, despite Manchester City also wanting to land the England international.
This summer – however – one rumoured target seems to have little interest in a move to Arsenal…
Karim Adeyemi not planning to join Arsenal
A story from Caught Offside recently claimed that Arsenal are keen to sign Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund this summer.
The Germany international enjoyed a tremendous 2023/24 campaign, scoring five goals while also providing two assists in 34 appearances – which may not sound like the best return, but his remarkable pace and directness worked wonders for Borussia Dortmund, helping the German giants progress into the UEFA Champions League final.
Adeyemi clearly enjoyed the 2023/24 campaign very much on a personal level – as he has now committed himself to Borussia Dortmund, at least verbally.
When quizzed on his future, the 22-year-old told BILD: “I’m happy and I love to be here at Borussia Dortmund. It was always clear to me that I wanted to play for BVB, my plan has not changed.”
Therefore, it would be a major shock if Adeyemi ended up joining Arsenal this summer.
Mikel Arteta and Edu should keep monitoring the Germany international
While a move for Adeyemi – who Borussia Dortmund signed from RB Salzburg for £33m back in May 2022 – is unlikely to materialise this summer, Arsenal should keep tabs on the man from Munich.
The Borussia Dortmund No.27 possesses immense speed – as aforesaid – which could help make Arsenal even deadlier on the counter attack under Arteta.
Adeyemi has even been clocked running quicker than Usain Bolt of all people.

Furthermore, Jude Bellingham said “not many players can stop” Adeyemi after playing alongside the German at Borussia Dortmund.

Therefore, Arsenal would be wise to keep tracking this precocious talent, who could make a real impact to the attack like Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka have done, if an opportunity to sign him arises in the near future.
