33-cap star says Spurs-linked coach is ‘different’, knows how to get the best out of his players

Tottenham Hotspur are searching for a new permanent manager in wake of Jose Mourinho’s sacking, and Brendan Rodgers has been heavily linked with the Spurs vacancy.

The 48-year-old has worked wonders at Leicester City since taking the reins in 2019.

Last term, Rodgers came within one game of a top-four finish, while this season they’re once again in the running for a Champions League place and are also in the FA Cup final.

Sky Sports claimed earlier week that the Northern Irishman has rejected the opportunity to join Tottenham, but the Daily Mail claims Spurs haven’t given up on him.

If the north Londoners do succeed in luring Rodgers from the King Power to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, they’d be getting a superb man-manager who knows how to get the players on side.

Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel recently said Rodgers was “perfect” for Leicester, and now defender Caglar Soyuncu has also sung his praises.

“Everybody says positive things about him because he treats everyone equally,” Soyuncu told Sky Sports.

“That’s very important and that makes him different, perhaps, to some other managers.

“As a human being, he’s a great man on and off the pitch. I believe that with him in charge, there’s a great opportunity for all the young players at Leicester to get into the team.”

Soyuncu is one of Rodgers’ biggest success stories, the 33-cap Turkey international ensuring that Harry Maguire wasn’t missed in the slightest following his move to Manchester United.

Admittedly, it’ll be a mission for Spurs to land Rodgers, but if they do, then they’ll be getting their hands on a truly amazing manager who brings successful, exciting football and whose players adore him.
