Tottenham Hotspur are enjoying a fruitful season and are currently in the driver’s seat for fourth place in the Premier League table.

But while the Spurs players and coaches are currently focusing on sealing a Champions League place, the scouting department will be busy keeping tabs on targets.

Tottenham have struck gold at various times over the past few transfer windows, and Ange Postecoglou is known for his proficiency in the market.

There’s a good chance Spurs scouts will have been following players in Europa League action this week.

And one player Tottenham are reportedly in talks over delivered a performance deemed “perfect” by the media in his country of work.

The player in question is Atalanta midfielder Ederson, who has enjoyed a bright season for the Bergamo-based outfit.

“Ederson’s a name who’s been in discussion at Tottenham,” Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge recently told GiveMeSport.

“I think it’s an area where Spurs will consider adding a genuine No. 6.”

A different GiveMeSport report claimed Tottenham are ‘totally convinced’ that the Brazilian talent would be ideal for them.

How did Tottenham target Ederson fare against Liverpool in the Europa League?

If there were any Spurs fans in attendance at Anfield on Thursday night, they’ll likely have enjoyed what Ederson and his teammates did.

Atalanta were absolutely rampant against Liverpool, hammering them 3-0 on their own turf and handing them their first home defeat in 14 months.

And Ederson was superb on the night, with Eurosport.it singing his praises in their post-match ratings article, where he got a 7.5 score.

‘We actually wonder how many Edersons are playing this evening at Anfield, given that the Brazilian is literally everywhere on the pitch,’ they wrote.

‘Perfect performance, without any flaw and indeed useful to remedy some uncertainty of his teammates.’

Meanwhile, Il Giornale gave Ederson a 7 out of 10 and wrote: ‘Substance and temperament to spare.

‘You find him everywhere, but he sings and carries the cross with his back always straight. A fundamental player to have balance.’

In terms of current price tag, Calciomercato recently claimed that the Bergamaschi are requesting a fee of £30million.

Based on how he played against Liverpool, Spurs may want to firm up their interest, because at that price, there could well be a bidding war kicking off.
