For a striker who has scored an impressive 14 league goals and is leading Watford to a comfortable survival, an off day is perhaps acceptable, but Odion Ighalo’s lax finishing cost the Hornets the chance of a famous win at Old Trafford.

Against a youthful and nervous United defence, Ighalo wasted chance after chance as Watford’s domination failed to translate itself into goals. A late Juan Mata free-kick won the game for the Red Devils, leaving Ighalo and the rest of his team to rue a missed opportunity.

This one could have been very, very different.
