You have to be brave when you are down the bottom of the Premier League, but unfortunately for Newcastle, goalkeeper Rob Elliot let them down slightly against Stoke City in a late defeat that could cost the Magpies.

Admittedly, Xherdan Shaqiri’s shot was hit hard and with plenty of swerve, but the effort was within the grasp of the motionless Elliot, who just watched the ball fly into the net, taking a hard earned Newcastle point with it.

Newcastle have scored just seven times on the road this season, conceding 32. Something needs to change at the back if they are going to remain a Premier League team.
