It was all looking so rosy for Leicester. Jamie Vardy had scored his 22nd Premier League goal of the season and they were looking likely to add a sixth straight victory to their impressive run of form that has put them on the brink of a title triumph.

However, early in the second half of their match against West Ham, Vardy, on a yellow card, tumbled in the penalty area under pressure from Angelo Ogbonna. It transpired that Vardy had checked his run in order to initiate contact with Ogbonna in an attempt to win his side a penalty.

Referee Jon Moss decided to send the striker off, and Leicester dropped some crucial points as they struggled without the outlet of Vardy’s pace. Whether Moss’ decision was harsh or not is irrelevant, Vardy let his team down, and now faces a further ban following his aggressive reaction to the red card. The length of his suspension could be pivotal in the run in.
