Down: Dusan Tadic

Southampton’s game at Stoke was a strange one. They dominated the first half, Graziano Pellè in particular causing havoc, but should have won the game much more comfortably than the resulting 2-1 score.

Much of this failure to seal the game must rest on the shoulders of Dusan Tadic. Played in by the electric Shane Long, Tadic turned back inside of Butland and Shawcross, leaving him with an open goal to place into and give the Saints a 3-0 half time lead. In the end, the Serbian dwelt on the ball for far too long and the recovering Stoke defence were able to snuff out the danger.

Tadic was then denied a clear penalty in the second half. It wasn’t really his day but nevertheless, was a great one for Southampton.
