Up: Romelu Lukaku
Any player who faces his old club will always have a point to prove, and Everton’s Romelu Lukaku is no different. Brought in as a teenager to eventually take over from Didier Drogba, Lukaku was shipped out of Chelsea for £28 million, just after he missed a penalty in the European Super Cup final against Bayern Munich.
Two years on, Chelsea must surely regret that decision, especially after Lukaku’s performance at the weekend. His first goal may go down as one of the FA Cup’s all-time greats, beating four players with a staggering display of balance, strength, dribbling and finishing. His second was also impressive, with a low and hard finish that Thibaut Courtois had little chance of saving.
Everton’s defence has let them down this season, but with a striker like Lukaku, there is still a lot of hope for the rest of the campaign.
